The products may look compatible, but the system still needs to be matched
Most project owners already know they need spots, frames, controllers and power supplies. The real risk is that small system details are not visible in a shopping cart: mechanical serviceability, 24V power behaviour, controller output and dimming response.
Modular fixture serviceability
TILLUME's modular design makes later light-source replacement more economical as LED technology evolves. Front-side installation also reduces the need to remove the entire fitting from the ceiling and lowers the risk of damaging the finished ceiling.
24V power behaviour
Not every 24V power supply is designed for PWM lighting loads. TILLUME power supplies support adjustable output voltage for voltage-drop compensation, keep around 20% reserve within rated planning and are selected for stable low-voltage LED operation.
Controller output and dimming response
The final LED-side PWM output must match the spot response. TILLUME LED spots can support 4 kHz 1% PWM and 1 kHz 0.3% PWM, while TILLUME DALI LED Controllers use logarithmic dimming and 4 kHz PWM for visually smooth control.
One matched supplier logic
Buying matched components from one system supplier reduces mismatch risk, avoids responsibility gaps between different vendors and improves consistency across the lighting installation.
DALI / KNX / Loxone
DALI LED controller / KNX PWM actuator / Loxone PWM or DALI interface
DALI, KNX and Loxone do not replace LED-side matching
The protocol defines how the system is controlled. The lighting result still depends on whether the final LED-side output, the 24V power supply, the LED spot module and the installation frame are planned as one low-voltage lighting system.
Confirm the final LED-side output, not just the protocol name
DALI, KNX and Loxone are upper-level control paths. The spot performance depends on the final 24V LED output, channel logic, PWM behaviour, total load and Tunable White requirements.
Match the complete system: LED spots, frames, controllers and 24V power supplies
The benefit is not just buying everything together. It is making sure mechanical serviceability, LED-side control output and 24V power behaviour are planned as one low-voltage lighting system.
24V LED Spot
Confirm lumen output, CRI, colour temperature, Fixed CCT, Tunable White or Dim-to-Warm type, plus PWM response at low dimming levels.
Installation frame
Confirm front-side installation, modular replacement, ceiling finish and maintenance access, not only cut-out size or adjustable angle.
Controller / actuator
Confirm DT6 / DT8, PWM frequency, channel count, load per channel, logarithmic dimming behaviour and Tunable White logic.
24V DC power supply
Confirm PWM-load suitability, adjustable output voltage, cable length, voltage drop and around 20% reserve within rated planning.
What your electrician should confirm before installation
Use this checklist to reduce mismatch risk, avoid unclear responsibility between suppliers and make the final system easier to approve on site.
Spot type, quantity, installation frame, front-side installation, replacement access and ceiling finish.
DALI DT6 / DT8, KNX PWM, Loxone PWM or DALI interface, channel count, load per channel and parameter logic.
PWM frequency, minimum dimming level, Tunable White or Dim-to-Warm logic and LED spot response time.
Capacity, around 20% reserve, adjustable output voltage, cable length, voltage drop and installation position.
If the AC input is switched by a relay, confirm inrush-current handling. TILLUME power supplies include input inrush suppression for this use case.
A matched system supplier reduces finger-pointing between separate vendors when compatibility questions appear during installation.

Frequently asked questions before ordering a matched 24V system
Because the risk is often in the interfaces: LED spot response, frame serviceability, final LED-side controller output, 24V power behaviour and responsibility between suppliers. A matched system reduces mismatch risk and avoids finger-pointing during installation.
No. KNX is an upper-level control system. A KNX project usually needs a KNX-DALI gateway, a KNX PWM actuator or another suitable final LED-side output that matches the 24V LED spot system.
Yes, within a system context. Output stability, reserve capacity, cable length, voltage drop and PWM-load suitability can affect reliability and dimming behaviour. TILLUME power supplies are selected for stable 24V LED system operation and allow output voltage adjustment for voltage-drop compensation.
The final low-voltage output must match the LED spot response. If the actuator or the LED module cannot respond well at very low duty cycles, the system may not reach very low dimming levels. TILLUME LED spots can support 4 kHz 1% PWM and 1 kHz 0.3% PWM.
It depends on total load, controller setup, cable length and installation layout. As a planning rule, allow around 20% power reserve and let the electrician confirm the final capacity and voltage-drop situation.
